It is a vineyard with black berries. The word derives from its earliness to ripen.

Grapes are picked from the end of August to the beginning of September.

It has an unknown origin. It was formerly grown in Gioia del Colle (Bari) and it spread later in Salento and Taranto.

It has medium and pentagonal leaves, bunch medium, long, cone- cylindrical shaped, simple, winged or double, compact on average; grapes medium, spheroidal, medium thick peel, blue and plentiful pruina.

It has a preference for clayey-calcareous lands, medium mixture. High-quality production, good and continuous. We exploit the system "alberello pugliese" at 4-5 spurs.
